Military relocation involves unique considerations and benefits for service members and their families. Here's how it generally works:

Orders Issuance: Military personnel receive official orders from the Department of Defense or their respective branch of service, detailing their new duty station, reporting date, and other relevant information. These orders typically come with a specific timeline for relocation.

Housing Allowance: Service members often receive a housing allowance, such as Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH), which can be used to cover the cost of renting or buying a home near the new duty station. The BAH is determined based on rank, location, and whether the service member has dependents.

Selling or Renting Existing Property: If the military member owns a home at their current duty station, they must decide whether to sell or rent it out. They might also consider the possibility of leaving the property vacant, although this is less common due to the financial implications.

Finding New Housing: The service member, along with their family, will typically start searching for suitable housing options near the new duty station.
